GQGA News

 GQGA was translated into Shan some time ago but we have just received an actual copy of the book. Shan is the language spoken in Shan State , Kachin State and Kayin State but also by Shan people living in and in parts of Thailand and China.

Recently we received a letter from Venerable Kozen Sampson of the Mount Adams Buddhist Temple in Washington State in the USA asking us for copies of GQGA in both English and Chinese. The temple provides Dhamma books for all prisons in Washington , Oregon and Arizona. We have already shipped off several hundred books to the temple and will send some more in the coming months. We have been informed by the Mahavihara in Brickfields in KL Malaysia that they have just reprinted 5000 copies of the English GQGA and 1000 copies of the Malay translation. We are also happy to learn that Venerable B Piyaratana of Sri Lanka Vidyalaya in Colombo has nearly finished revising, updating and correcting the old Sinhala translation of GQGA. Hopefully sponsors will come forward in Sri Lanka to print it.

We are happy to announce that the new French translation of GQGA has just been published. Bhante has given permission for Editions Favre to publish the book for sale. This will guarantee that it will be available in over 100 outlets throughout France, Belgium Switzerland. We would like to thank Eric Gibert here in Singapore for doing the translation and for Editions Favre producing such a fine edition.

GQGA was first translated into Nepali about 18 years ago. When Bhante Dhammika was in Kathmandu recently he met with Ven. Assaji and Ven. Saranakara who together with Ven. Pannakitti in the US have translated the additions to the previous Nepali translation of GQGQ.  Five thousand copies of this updated edition have been published.

Dailbor Pavlik has written to us informing us that the second edition of the Czech translation of GQGA has just come out. Five thousand copies were printed.

On the 19th of April Bhante Dhammika had a visit  from Venerable Neminda from Burma. Ven. Naminda, now studying at Kaliniya University in Sri Lanka,  is the fourth person to have translated GQGA  into Burmese. He told  us that the book is in such demand that people photocopy it, others then photocopy the photocopy, etc, until the text becomes so faded that it is difficult to read. Ven. In the middle of April we were informed Sukhi Hotu in Malaysia published for free distribution 3000 copies of the Chinese translation of Good Question Good Answer for free distribution. We have also learned that the new Tagalog (Philippine) translation has been finished too. It awaits publication but in the meantime the text is available at www.goodquestiongoodanswer.net

We have just discovered that GQGA was translated into Bengali several years ago and was printed in Bangladesh . The book proved to be very popular and plans are underway to republish it. We have just received a copy from Venerable Karunananda, one of the people who arranged for its translation, printing and distribution. Once again, many thanks for everyone involved.
